Grape leather
Grape leather is characterized by its unique properties. It can be easily processed with a standard household sewing machine. It is light, supple, but still extremely robust and tear-resistant.
The processing options for grape leather are diverse: It can be cut, sewn, ironed, riveted, punched, water-based glued, stapled, punched and embossed. This makes it ideal for a wide range of DIY projects.
With a fabric backing similar to that of faux leather, grape leather is easy to handle. It is not prone to breaking or fraying, so there is no need to clean the edges. Like animal leather, grape leather also develops an individual patina over time.

Production and ecological properties of grape leather
The high-quality grape leather is obtained from the residue of wine production by cleverly recycling grape residues. This innovative approach uses sustainable plant resources that regenerate and therefore minimize the ecological footprint. Transforming these natural wastes creates a material that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also inspired by the principles of circular economy.
The processing of grape residues, combined with vegetable oils and natural fibers from agriculture, gives this material its unique properties. It is an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional leather that is made without the use of animal products. This sustainable approach not only offers an aesthetic solution, but also helps reduce the environmental impact of leather production and advances sustainability in the textile industry.
Grape leather and sustainability
Grape leather represents a pioneering development in the area of sustainable materials while meeting strict international standards for recycled products. These standards not only guarantee the quality and performance of the material, but also its environmental compatibility and social responsibility along the entire production chain.
The material is carefully checked to ensure that it contains the required proportion of recycled materials, with traceability of the production process being crucial. This means that every step - from sourcing the grape residue to producing the finished product - is transparently documented to ensure environmental and social standards are met.
In addition, the production of grape leather is subject to strict guidelines regarding the use of chemicals. Only environmentally friendly and non-toxic substances are used, which minimizes the impact on people and the environment.
Another important aspect is compliance with environmental and social criteria at all stages of the production chain. This includes aspects such as the energy efficiency of production facilities, the working conditions of employees and compliance with fair wages and labor rights.
By meeting these strict international standards, grape leather positions itself not only as a high quality and innovative material, but also as a responsible choice for environmentally conscious consumers and companies that want to make a positive contribution to sustainability.
Care instructions for grape leather
For care, we recommend using a mild cleaning agent. Please avoid solvents such as alcohol, acetone, paint thinner, bleach, oils and similar products as well as ink pens as these can be absorbed into the material. Spilled liquids such as beer, wine, juices, soft drinks, coffee, tea or chocolate should be cleaned as quickly as possible, especially if the liquid is heavily colored. Sauce stains should be treated immediately to prevent staining. Contact with suntan oils should be avoided; If this happens, clean the area immediately with liquid soap or shampoo.
If necessary, clean it with a soap solution and a white cotton cloth moistened with water. Light colors may require more frequent cleaning. Avoid vinegar, waxes, silicones, all-purpose cleaners, stove cleaners or similar cleaning products as they can cause permanent damage. Then dry the surface with a dry, white cotton cloth.
If accessories become discolored, remove the stain immediately with shampoo and a white cotton cloth, rinse the area with water and allow it to dry.
If there are slight creases during transport, they can easily be smoothed out by ironing from the back.
